Efeitos do taekwondo na saúde de idosos: uma revisão sistemática

Resumo

Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo identificar os efeitos do taekwondo na saúde de idosos. Métodos: Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura seguindo as recomendações do PRISMA e registrada no PROSPERO, sob o número CRD42021279561. As bases de dados eletrônicas MEDLINE (via PubMed), Scopus, SPORTDiscus e Web of Science foram pesquisadas, com os termos Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) “martial arts” e “aged” e os termos alternativos “taekwondo”, “elderly” e "Mais velho". Incluímos estudos que analisaram os efeitos do taekwondo em variáveis ​​relacionadas à saúde em idosos de ambos os sexos. O risco de viés dos estudos experimentais e quase-experimentais incluídos foi analisado usando a ferramenta Cochrane Collaboration e a ferramenta Risk Of Bias In Non-randomized Studies – of Interventions (ROBINS-I), respectivamente. Resultados: Sete estudos preencheram os critérios de elegibilidade. As intervenções dos estudos incluídos variaram de 6 a 17 semanas, com 45 a 90 minutos por sessão de treinamento, e frequência de 3 a 5 vezes por semana. O número total da amostra foi de 160 participantes, com predominância do sexo feminino nas amostras. Após a intervenção de taekwondo, os protocolos demonstraram melhora na força muscular, flexibilidade, equilíbrio e composição corporal. Conclusão: Os estudos investigados mostraram que o taekwondo pode efetivamente manter a saúde e desenvolver qualidades físicas na população idosa. No entanto, esses achados devem ser considerados preliminares devido à amostra relativamente pequena e à heterogeneidade das intervenções dos estudos identificados.
