Introduction: the physical and technical characteristics of Taekwondo athletes allow defining the activity profiles of the competitors during the competition in relation to the athlete's categories.
Objective: Objective. to determine the relationship between physical-technical capacities in Colombian youth Taekwondo athletes as a function of sex, sport experience, weight category and height.
Material and method: quantitative and cross-sectional study. The sample was composed of 10 Colombian athletes, five males with a mean age of 15.20±0.91 years and a body mass of 56.44±7.89 kg and five females with a mean age of 15.86±0.85 years and a body mass of 54.12±4.65 kg. Statistical treatment was performed with the ® program version 4.1.0, using univariate and bivariate analysis tests, least squares linear regression method, Wald test and coefficient of determination.
Results: for the variable jump height (cm) in the Counter Movement Jump (CMJ), the coefficient indicates that in relation to the left Yeop Chagui kick there was a reduction of 0.28 pounds of power exerted in the execution of the technique (p=0.03), while, the right Twit Chagui kick has an increase of 0.19 pounds of power exerted in the technique for each additional cm obtained in the SEBT test (p=0.03).
Conclusions: relationships were found between different physical and technical variables, mainly between the variables category, body mass, SEBT right foot, and some milder ones in the variables related to height (cm), flight time (ms) and jump speed (m/s) in the CMJ, and in a very similar way in the Squat Jump. As for sex and sporting experience, the results indicate that there is no specific relationship that would allow us to confirm any influence between the variables.
