Introduction: Close contact with the natural environment, physical activity and environmental education are as essential elements in children's development, in terms of building a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
Objective: The purpose was to analyze the influence of contact with the natural environment on physical activity and environmental education during early childhood (0-6 years) as part of comprehensive education in schools.
Methodology: The PRISMA protocol was applied, searching for scientific articles in Spanish and English in four databases: Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC and Dialnet. Of the 413 documents found, 10 met the previously established inclusion criteria, including articles related to intervention programmes, analysis of teachers' conceptions and theoretical-pedagogical articles related to the object of study.
Results: Contact with the natural environment was found to have a positive contribution to physical activity and, in most cases, immense potential for environmental education.
Discussion: The results are in line with recent research highlighting the significant role of physical activity in the natural environment for improving health, fostering respect for the environment, and the importance of education for sustainable development.
Conclusions: Environmental education in early childhood is essential for developing individuals who are environmentally responsible from an early age. Therefore, there is a perceived need for better teacher training in this area.
