The objective of this work was to analyze the effects of overweight and obesity on the gait pattern in boys and girls. The study group was made up of 38 participants, with a mean age (10.39 ± 1.70) years from Mexicali B.C., México, the percentage of fat, weight and classification were obtained by electrical bioimpedance with TANITA BF-689 scale, with a Body Mass Index (BMI) (26.53 ± 5.21). The biomechanical evaluation of the gait, it was performed using a 3D motion capture system and force platforms. Among the most important results, 28 significant correlations were found between kinematic, spatiotemporal and kinetic parameters evaluated in gait, BMI and fat percentage with a level of significance (p < 0.05). In conclusion, it was possible to obtain a complete and detailed evaluation of the participant’s gait. This allowed us to accurately identify and analyze the effects of overweight and obesity on the gait cycle. One of the parameters, which provides valuable information for understanding possible injuries. It is important to highlight that physical activity can have positive effects on people who experience these alterations.
