Resumo

Introdução: A prática regular de atividade física pode ajudar na redução dos efeitos associados à atividade ocupacional antes da reforma.
Objectivo: O objectivo deste estudo foi analisar, utilizando uma abordagem de modelo preditivo, o efeito da relação entre o tipo de actividade ocupacional e a actividade física na saúde antropométrica, física e mental numa população adulta reformada.
Metodologia: Foram incluídos 501 participantes reformados (70,13 ± 1,23 anos) e categorizados em três grupos de acordo com a sua atividade ocupacional. O modelo de previsão foi construído com as seguintes variáveis: atividade ocupacional, sexo, nível de atividade física, índice de massa corporal, não tabagismo, atividade física e as variáveis ​​suavizadas (idade). As variáveis ​​dependentes foram o teste de caminhada de seis minutos, a força de preensão manual, a saúde mental, a saúde física, a massa gorda e a massa muscular.
Resultados: Nos homens, o grupo de trabalho vigoroso apresentou pontuações mais baixas no teste de caminhada de seis minutos e pontuações mais elevadas nas variáveis ​​antropométricas em comparação com o grupo de trabalho sedentário. Nas mulheres, os grupos de trabalho moderado e vigoroso apresentaram pontuações mais baixas no teste de caminhada de seis minutos, em comparação com o grupo de trabalho sedentário. Em relação às variáveis ​​antropométricas, os mesmos grupos apresentaram pontuações mais elevadas em comparação com o grupo de trabalho sedentário. Em termos de saúde mental, o grupo de trabalho moderado apresentou pontuações mais baixas em comparação com o grupo de trabalho sedentário.
Discussão: A atividade ocupacional, a atividade física, o sexo e o índice de massa corporal foram preditores de variáveis ​​antropométricas, saúde mental e aptidão física.
Conclusões: Seria benéfico implementar um programa de exercício durante a fase de trabalho em organizações com empregos de intensidade moderada e vigorosa.
