Associação entre as características do ambiente construído e as barreiras percebidas pelos pais para a deslocação ativa para a escola

Resumo

Introdução: O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar as associações entre as barreiras parentais e as características do ambiente construído da família, diferenciando por pais e género do adolescente.
Metodologia: Um total de 94 pais espanhóis de crianças que frequentam 13 escolas diferentes (Granada, Jaén e Valência) responderam a um questionário sobre o modo de deslocação dos seus filhos para a escola e as barreiras que percecionavam para a deslocação ativa dos seus filhos. A análise do ambiente construído foi realizada com recurso à ferramenta "Microscale Audit Pedestrian Streetscapes".
Resultados: Os pais percecionaram maiores barreiras à marcha quando o projeto para peões era pior (β = -0,14; IC = -0,26, -0,01). As barreiras percebidas pelas mães foram maiores quando as características estéticas eram piores (β = -0,22; IC = -0,40, 0,00). Para os rapazes, as barreiras totais (β = -0,05; IC = -0,39, -0,00), as barreiras para bicicletas (β = -0,14; IC = -0,26, -0,01) e as barreiras totais (β = -0,19; IC = -0,19, -0,02) percebidas pelos pais foram maiores quando o projeto para peões era mais precário. No entanto, não foram observados resultados significativos para as raparigas.
Conclusões: Os pais perceberam mais barreiras quando as características do design para peões pioraram, e as mães perceberam mais barreiras quando a estética das ruas piorou. Da mesma forma, os pais dos rapazes percecionaram mais barreiras quando as características do projeto para peões eram mais precárias. Por conseguinte, o desenvolvimento e a melhoria das infraestruturas para peões e ruas podem reduzir a perceção dos pais sobre as barreiras que influenciam a deslocação ativa dos seus filhos para a escola.
