Efectos del kinesiotape en la activación del transverso abdominal en adultos sanos. Un estudio piloto

Introducción: El kinesiotape o vendaje neuromuscular es un vendaje adhesivo elástico que puede proporcionar efectos analgésicos y propioceptivos, aumentar el flujo sanguíneo y linfático y regular el tono muscular.
Objetivos: revisar la viabilidad del estudio y determinar si la aplicación de kinesiotape estimulante al músculo transverso del abdomen produce una mayor activación de este músculo en sujetos sanos evaluados mediante ecografía.
Metodología: El diseño del estudio es un ensayo clínico piloto, aleatorizado y controlado. Los sujetos fueron evaluados en grupos paralelos y a simple ciego. Para evaluar la actividad muscular transversa, se midió el grosor muscular mediante ultrasonido en tres situaciones: en reposo, en la posición inicial y final del ejercicio de la chinche muerta. Los sujetos fueron evaluados antes y después de la aplicación del vendaje: el grupo de intervención con kinesiotape abdominal y el grupo control con kinesiotape lumbar.
Resultados: La investigación se realizó sin necesidad de modificaciones en el diseño y sin encontrar efectos adversos en ninguno de los participantes. En cuanto a los cambios observados, no se encontraron diferencias significativas entre los grupos tras la aplicación inmediata del kinesiotape. En el grupo de intervención, se observó una mayor activación muscular transversa al realizar el ejercicio con el vendaje.
Conclusiones: La aplicación de kinesiotape abdominal es un método válido y fiable para obtener la activación del músculo transverso del abdomen. Los resultados preliminares muestran mejoras significativas, pero estas no deben considerarse definitivas, ya que se encuentran dentro del margen de error del ecógrafo.
