O impacto da infeção por COVID-19 na qualidade de vida entre pessoas que praticam exercício físico e pessoas que não praticam

Resumo

Introdução: A qualidade de vida das pessoas, particularmente nos domínios da saúde física, saúde psicológica, relações sociais e ambiente, pode ter sido influenciada pelo seu comportamento em relação à prática de exercício físico durante a pandemia de COVID-19.

Objectivo: Investigar o impacto da infecção por COVID-19 (COVID) na qualidade de vida dos indivíduos, comparando os que praticaram exercício físico com os que não praticaram.

Metodologia: Participaram no estudo 328 pessoas com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 25 anos. Os participantes foram categorizados em quatro grupos distintos: pessoas com COVID que praticaram exercício físico, pessoas com COVID que não praticaram exercício físico, pessoas sem COVID que praticaram exercício físico e pessoas sem COVID que não praticaram exercício físico. Foi-lhes pedido que preenchessem questionários auto-aplicáveis ​​para avaliar as suas características sociodemográficas gerais, o seu comportamento em relação à prática de exercício físico e a sua qualidade de vida nos quatro domínios referidos, bem como o seu estado geral de saúde e qualidade de vida global. As diferenças entre os grupos foram analisadas através de ANOVA bidirecional e testes t de amostras independentes, e as relações entre as variáveis ​​foram examinadas através da correlação de Pearson.

Resultados: Os participantes do grupo não-COVID que praticaram exercício físico reportaram pontuações significativamente mais elevadas na saúde geral, bem como nos domínios da saúde física, saúde psicológica, relações sociais e qualidade de vida ambiental, em comparação com os outros três grupos. Entre os participantes com COVID que praticaram exercício físico, a saúde geral apresentou uma associação significativa com o número de doses de vacina recebidas. Entre os participantes com COVID que não praticaram exercício físico, o domínio da saúde física apresentou uma associação com o número de infeções por COVID-19 que tinham sofrido.

Conclusão: Os participantes do grupo não-COVID que praticaram exercício físico apresentaram pontuações de qualidade de vida significativamente melhores em todos os domínios avaliados. Esta descoberta realça a importância de manter um estilo de vida ativo para promover uma melhor qualidade de vida durante a pandemia de COVID-19.
