Eficácia da massagem na recuperação muscular: um ensaio clínico randomizado

Introdução: O treino desportivo de alto rendimento gera elevados níveis de fadiga muscular, salientando a importância de estratégias de recuperação eficazes. Neste contexto, a massagem apresenta-se como uma potencial ferramenta para promover a recuperação dos atletas.
Objectivo: Avaliar a eficácia da massagem na recuperação muscular pós-exercício.
Metodologia: Foi realizado um ensaio clínico randomizado com uma amostra de 37 atletas de futebol e futsal, divididos num grupo experimental (GE) que recebeu massagem e num grupo controlo (GC) que recebeu uma sessão educativa. As medidas foram recolhidas antes da intervenção, imediatamente após e 24 horas após a sua conclusão. A perceção da dor foi avaliada através da escala visual analógica, e o desempenho físico foi avaliado através da potência mecânica, do índice de força reativa no salto em queda e da velocidade propulsiva média no agachamento.
Resultados: Não foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre os grupos na perceção da dor, na potência do salto, no índice de força reativa ou na velocidade propulsiva média, tanto após a intervenção como após 24 horas (p > 0,05 em todos os casos).
Conclusão: A massagem aplicada após um protocolo de fadiga não produziu alterações significativas nas variáveis físicas analisadas. No entanto, observou-se uma tendência para a redução da dor percebida após 24 horas, sugerindo que os benefícios da massagem podem manifestar-se por períodos superiores a 48 horas.
