Abstract

Introduction. The knee injury in the soccer player triggers functional deficiencies that affect power, speed, agility and flexibility in the lower limb. Once the injury is established, there is a decrease in these deficiencies, which are expected to be recovered during readaptation. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare these variables between soccer players with and without a history of knee injury.

Method. Descriptive and cross-sectional study, evaluated 14 and 36 soccer players with and without a history of injury respectively, belonging to teams from Cali and Popayán, aged between 15 and 30 years, with inclusion criteria of a history of ACL injury, collaterals and meniscopathy with readaptation phase and return to play less than 6 months; those with pain and current injury in the lower limb were excluded. The tests applied were: Back Saver Sit and Reach, Drop Jump with My Jump2® app, Illinois and V-Cut.

Results. The groups with and without antecedents had an average age of 20 and 19 years, weight of 70.8 and 68.3 kg, height of 174.1 and 174.4 cm and body mass index (BMI) of 23.3 and 22.4 kg/m² respectively. In the athletes, right dominance prevailed and a significant difference (p<0.05) was established in the lower limb power variable in the values of jump height and flight time between the two groups.

Conclusion. Power seems to be significantly different between the groups, which does not occur in the variables flexibility, speed and agility.
