A relação entre atividade física e desempenho académico entre estudantes profissionais de saúde: um estudo correlacional

Resumo

Introdução: A atividade física (AF) é amplamente reconhecida pelos seus benefícios cognitivos e psicológicos, mas a sua relação direta com o desempenho académico é ainda inconclusiva. Este estúdio está centrado na correlação entre os níveis de AF e o desempenho académico em estudantes de fisioterapia. Foram ainda explorados fatores demográficos, como o género e o Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC), que influenciaram esta relação Metodologia: Foi realizado um estudo transversal e correlacional com 102 estudantes de fisioterapia de infância, entre os 18 e os 25 anos. Os níveis de AF foram avaliados pelo Cuestionario Internacional de Actividad Física (IPAQ), enquanto o rendimento académico foi determinado através do Promedio de Calificaciones (GPA) autoinformado. Os dados foram analisados ​​através de estatísticas descritivas, correlação de Spearman e testes de qui-quadrado. Resultados: Os hallazgos não mostraram uma correlação significativa entre os níveis de AF e o GPA (p > 0,05), o que sugere que o AF não influencia diretamente o desempenho académico. No entanto, a maioria dos estudantes mantém níveis elevados de AF, o que indica que o exercício é uma parte integrada do seu estilo de vida em vez de uma exigência que compete com os seus estúdios. Além disso, o género e o IMC não apresentam associações significativas com a AF ou o desempenho académico.
Discussão: Estes resultados coincidem com estudos anteriores que sugerem que o AF favorece a função cognitiva e o bienestar, mas não melhora necessariamente os resultados académicos. Fatores como os hábitos de estudo, a motivação e a estrutura curricular podem influenciar mais o desempenho académico do que o AF por si só. Recomenda-se que futuras investigações explorem os diferentes tipos de AF e os seus efeitos no desempenho académico através de medidas objetivas e estudos longitudinais.
