Efeito de um programa de treino de força muscular em idosos com hipertensão

Resumo

Introdução: A pressão arterial (PA) é um parâmetro fisiológico fundamental que reflete a força exercida pelo sangue contra as paredes dos vasos sanguíneos. A magnitude da pressão de pulso é atribuída principalmente à interação entre o volume sistólico cardíaco, a complacência do sistema arterial e a resistência ao fluxo arterial.

Objectivo: O objectivo deste estudo foi analisar o efeito de um programa de treino de força muscular a 60% de 1RM na PA em indivíduos com hipertensão.

Metodologia: Vinte participantes idosos com diagnóstico de hipertensão participaram num programa de treino de força utilizando dois exercícios de puxar e empurrar para os membros inferiores e superiores. O programa teve a duração de 8 semanas, com 3 sessões de 45 minutos por semana.

Resultados: Observou-se uma diminuição da pressão arterial sistólica (PAS) com um pequeno efeito e significância estatística. A pressão arterial diastólica (PAD) também apresentou um efeito reduzido e não foi estatisticamente significativa. Embora a pressão arterial média tenha diminuído significativamente (p < 0,05) e apresentado um efeito moderado, foram observados aumentos significativos da força muscular em todos os testes realizados. O exercício inicial de empurrar bilateral sentado apresentou uma melhoria com um tamanho de efeito pequeno, enquanto a remada bilateral sentada apresentou um aumento com um tamanho de efeito moderado. Foram relatados valores significativos na extensão unilateral do joelho direito e esquerdo, juntamente com pequenas melhorias no tamanho do efeito.

Conclusões: Um programa de treino de força com 3 sessões por semana durante 8 semanas, com cargas de 60% de 1RM, resultou numa redução significativa da pressão arterial sistólica.
