O futebol de competição como contexto de aprendizagem social: associações com competências de comunicação, liderança e trabalho em equipa entre jogadores de futebol adolescentes

Introdução: O futebol de competição pode proporcionar um contexto social estruturado no qual os jogadores adolescentes experienciam repetidas oportunidades de interação interpessoal. No entanto, as evidências sobre as associações entre o compromisso com o futebol e as competências psicossociais em jogadores adolescentes são ainda limitadas.
Objectivo: Este estudo examinou as associações entre o compromisso com o futebol de competição e as competências de comunicação, liderança e trabalho em equipa em jogadores adolescentes.
Metodologia: Foi utilizado um desenho quantitativo correlacional com 112 alunos do sexo masculino de uma academia de futebol de alto rendimento na Malásia. Os dados foram recolhidos através de instrumentos de autorrelato validados, e a consistência interna foi avaliada na amostra do presente estudo. Os coeficientes de correlação de Pearson com intervalos de confiança de 95% foram utilizados para examinar as associações entre as variáveis.
Resultados: O envolvimento com o futebol apresentou uma associação positiva com a comunicação (r = 0,334; IC 95% [0,158, 0,489]; p < 0,001) e com o trabalho em equipa (r = 0,523; IC 95% [0,374, 0,646]; p < 0,001), mas não com a liderança (r = 0,138; IC 95% [−0,049, 0,315]; p = 0,145).
Discussão e Conclusão: Um maior nível de envolvimento com o futebol esteve associado a melhores capacidades de comunicação e de trabalho em equipa, mas não de liderança. Estes achados devem ser interpretados como associações dentro desta amostra e não como evidência de que o envolvimento com o futebol provoca alterações nas capacidades psicossociais.
