Predictores antropométricos e biomecânicos do sucesso competitivo numa competição regional de taekwondo no Brasil

Introdução: Pesquisas anteriores indicaram que tanto as características antropométricas como a biomecânica do salto vertical influenciam o desempenho no taekwondo. No entanto, os modelos preditivos de sucesso atlético baseados em características antropométricas ou no desempenho do salto vertical eram inexistentes.
Objectivo: O objectivo deste estudo foi analisar como as características antropométricas e o desempenho no salto em queda podem prever o sucesso atlético dos atletas de taekwondo a nível regional.
Metodologia: Quarenta e seis atletas (28 homens, 18 mulheres) foram categorizados como campeões regionais ou não campeões regionais com base na sua classificação na competição regional. Foram avaliadas as características antropométricas da parte inferior do corpo e o desempenho no salto em queda (30 cm de altura) sobre plataformas de força. Foram utilizadas regressões logísticas bivariadas para determinar o poder preditivo destas variáveis.
Resultados: Os campeões regionais apresentaram um comprimento absoluto e relativo da coxa significativamente mais elevado e um índice femoral mais baixo em comparação com os não campeões regionais. No desempenho do salto em queda, os campeões regionais superaram os não campeões regionais na maioria das variáveis de força e potência. Os modelos de regressão logística identificaram o comprimento da coxa normalizado (AOR = 2,07; p = 0,003) e a potência propulsiva média normalizada (AOR = 1,38; p = 0,002) como os preditores mais robustos do sucesso atlético. Esta última variável apresentou o maior poder discriminativo (AUC = 0,83).
Conclusões: Tanto as características antropométricas como a potência gerada durante o salto em queda (DJ) mostraram ser preditores válidos do desempenho em atletas regionais de taekwondo. Os resultados realçam a importância da potência gerada e estabelecem o DJ como uma ferramenta prática para a identificação de talentos e otimização do treino.
