Testes de aptidão cardiorrespiratória e força abdominal para detetar o risco de obesidade através da relação cintura-estatura em jovens

Introdução: A obesidade infantil e na adolescência é um problema significativo de saúde pública, e a sua detecção com uma precisão aceitável através de testes de aptidão física facilita a sua utilização como ferramenta de avaliação da saúde.
Objectivo: Este estudo teve como objectivo identificar pontos de corte em testes de aptidão física para a detecção do risco de obesidade utilizando a relação cintura-estatura em jovens.
Métodos: Trata-se de uma análise secundária da base de dados PROESP-Br, na qual os participantes foram selecionados com base em variáveis antropométricas e testes de aptidão física para a flexibilidade, capacidade cardiorrespiratória e força abdominal. A amostra final foi constituída por 4.645 crianças e adolescentes dos 6 aos 17 anos. Foram utilizadas curvas ROC para a análise dos dados.
Resultados: O estudo demonstrou resultados significativos para a força abdominal e para o teste de marcha de 6 minutos em ambos os grupos etários (6-12 e 13-17 anos), permitindo o estabelecimento de pontos de corte através de curvas ROC. Para o grupo dos 6 aos 12 anos, o ponto de corte ideal para o teste de marcha de 6 minutos (AUC > 0,662) foi de 852,5 m, e para a força abdominal (AUC > 0,678), foi de 26 repetições por minuto. No grupo dos 13 aos 17 anos, o ponto de corte para o teste de marcha de 6 minutos (AUC > 0,668) foi de 880,5 m, e para a força abdominal (AUC > 0,661), foi de 30 repetições por minuto. A flexibilidade foi o único teste que não apresentou resultados significativos em nenhum dos grupos.
Discussão: Estes achados são consistentes com pesquisas anteriores que apoiam a utilização de testes de aptidão física para detetar o risco de obesidade em jovens, sendo estes resultados particularmente relevantes por incorporarem a relação cintura-estatura como critério de referência.
Conclusão: O teste de corrida de 6 minutos e o teste de força abdominal demonstraram precisão suficiente para detetar o risco de obesidade em jovens dos 6 aos 12 anos e dos 13 aos 17 anos.
