Objective: relationship between body composition and physical condition of hypertensive older women, exploratory study, carried out in 31 older adult women, for data collection, the battery of tests of the Interuniversity Center for Healthy Aging (CIES) was used, designed for the comprehensive evaluation of older people, which includes physical functionality tests and cognitive evaluations. to complement the evaluation, an IDEXA densitometer was used, the data obtained were analyzed by SPSS.
Results: The age of the participants was 75 ± 5.9 years, with a "normal " cognitive status (MMSE 28.7±1.7), with respect to the level of physical activity assessed with IPAQ, 48% self-reported moderate levels of physical activity and 26% low. Alarming were the high blood pressure figures found, where 13% were in the category of elevated blood pressure, 13% in high pressure grade 1, 55% in high grade 2 (normal=17) and 6% in the hypertensive crisis category.
Conclusions: The results reveal that, although all participants have access to health services, the prevalence of chronic diseases such as hypertension and osteoporosis is high, posing a significant risk to their overall well-being.
