Introduction and objective: life satisfaction is an indicator of subjective well-being during the university stage, influenced by various individual and contextual factors. In this sense, the aim of this study was to determine whether body appreciation and attitudes toward physical-sport activity predict life satisfaction among university students in the Peruvian Amazon.
Methodology: a quantitative study was conducted with a non-experimental, predictive, and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 549 university students of both genders, who were administered the Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2), the Attitudes Toward Physical Activity and Sport Scale (EAFD), and the Life Satisfaction Scale. All instruments used showed appropriate psychometric properties for the evaluated population.
Results: the linear regression model was statistically significant (F = 282.518, p < 0.01), explaining 50.9% of the variance in life satisfaction (R² = 0.509). Among the predictors analyzed, both body appreciation (β = 0.512, p < 0.01) and attitudes toward physical-sport activity (β = 0.318, p < 0.01) showed positive and significant effects on the criterion variable. Furthermore, the tolerance and VIF values indicated the absence of multicollinearity issues, and the Durbin-Watson statistic (1.953) confirmed the independence of the residuals.
Conclusions: body appreciation and attitudes toward physical-sport activity predict life satisfaction among university students in the Peruvian Amazon.
