Abstract

Programs based on improvement interpersonal relationships and emotional and social adjustment of schoolchildren have been identified as effective strategies in prevention and intervention strategies against social nature problems such as bullying. However, the number of programs to promote these skills is low. Physical Education is a key subject for development of socio-emotional skills in students. This article designs, examines and evaluates an intervention to promote social and emotional skills among primary school children. For this, a longitudinal study, ex post facto, pre-post with the experimental group has been designed. 75 schoolchildren aged between 10 and 12 participated (M = 10.81; SD = 0.33). The intervention included communicative, expressive, creative and aesthetic elements to promote emotional and social competencies, from the Body Expression module during Physical Education classes. The results showed that the practice of socio-affective skills improves personal relationships. The conclusions highlight the need to promote programs that develop students' social competence.
