Introduction. The results and conclusions derived from a case study that investigates the perception of teachers and students about the introduction of contemporary art in the PE methodology of an educational center are presented. Method. This research uses a case study methodology and is included within the socio-constructivist paradigm and the practical action research model. The purpose is to analyze the perceptions of students and teachers on EF proposals regarding contemporary art. For this, three analysis instruments are used: 1 interview with the two infant and primary school teachers, 18 focus groups with the 2nd and 5th grade students and analysis of a learning diary. Results. The benefits provided by the incorporation of art in PE classes are described and some difficulties are noted, to which an attempt is made to respond. Discussion. At the end of the investigation, it is revealed that PE based on art turns out to be an enriching educational methodology that promotes breaking the PE models that teachers and students have integrated, fosters creativity, freedom and autonomy of students and becomes a resource to transform the rules of sports. Likewise, it is advocated to expand the research by analyzing similar experiences in other contexts and in secondary education.
