Impacto do exercício físico domiciliário e do controlo da dieta no desempenho funcional e na depressão em mulheres com deficiência de vitamina D.

Resumo

Contexto: Este estudo investigou o impacto de diferentes intervenções na depressão e no desempenho funcional de mulheres com deficiência de vitamina D3, uma condição que se revelou duas a três vezes mais prevalente nas mulheres e associada a diversos sintomas.

Métodos: Um total de 120 mulheres foram aleatoriamente alocadas a quatro grupos iguais: o Grupo A recebeu um programa de exercício domiciliário, exposição solar e suplementação de vitamina D3; o Grupo B recebeu uma dieta, exposição solar e suplementação de vitamina D3; o Grupo C recebeu exposição solar e suplementação de vitamina D3; e o Grupo D apenas recebeu suplementação de vitamina D3 durante 6 semanas.

Resultados: Durante o período do estudo, observaram-se melhorias significativas nos Grupos A, B e C em comparação com o Grupo D. Estas melhorias incluíram aumentos nos níveis de vitamina D3 e melhoria da função física, medidas por um exame de sangue para vitamina D3 (teste de 25-hidroxivitamina D) e pelo teste de caminhada de 6 minutos (p < 0,05), e reduções na depressão e na dispneia, medidas pela Escala de Avaliação de Depressão de Hamilton (HAMD) e pela Escala de Dispneia de Borg, respetivamente (p < 0,001). Análises adicionais revelaram que o Grupo A apresentou uma maior melhoria nos níveis de vitamina D3 e no teste de caminhada de 6 minutos em comparação com os Grupos B e C (p < 0,01). Os Grupos A e B também apresentaram uma melhoria significativamente maior nos escores da HAMD em comparação com o Grupo C. O Grupo A também apresentou uma melhoria significativamente maior nos escores de dispneia em comparação com os Grupos B e C (p < 0,01), enquanto não houve diferenças entre os Grupos B e C neste aspeto (p > 0,05).

Conclusão: Os métodos terapêuticos afetaram a depressão e o desempenho funcional em mulheres com deficiência de vitamina D3, mas o exercício combinado com a suplementação de vitamina D3 foi mais eficaz.
