Gender stereotypes in the practice of amateur football

Introduction: This research is part of studies on gender and sport, specifically at the amateur football level.
Objective: To analyse gender stereotypes in physical exercise and sport, identifying sexist beliefs among amateur football and futsal players.
Methodology: A quantitative methodology was implemented, and the scale for measuring gender stereotypes in sport and physical exercise was used for data collection, which was applied in a community sports centre in Santiago, Chile.
Results: Significant differences were identified based on gender and type of discipline (football and futsal), particularly in the dimensions of sexist binary thinking in sport and sexism in female leadership.
Conclusion: The low participation of women highlights the importance of continuing to promote spaces and opportunities for their integration into football, futsal and sports leadership roles.
