Abstract

Introduction: sedentary behavior and the reduction of physical activity were identified as problems that affected health and quality of life, which motivated interest in active tourism and physical activities in natural environments as alternatives with educational potential.

Objective: to analyze the relationship between participation in active tourism and physical activities in natural environments and the perception of health and quality of life in an adult population, from a didactic perspective.

Methodology: a quantitative, non-experimental study was conducted, with a cross-sectional design and a descriptive-correlational scope. The sample consisted of 180 participants selected through intentional sampling. a structured questionnaire was applied, and the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.

Results: regular participation in active tourism activities was evidenced, mainly hiking and ecological walks. participants reported high levels of physical, psychological, and social benefits, as well as positive and significant relationships between frequency of participation and perceived health and quality of life.

Discussion: the findings were consistent with previous studies that highlighted the positive impact of physical activity in natural environments on overall well-being.

Conclusions: active tourism and physical activities in natural environments were consolidated as an effective didactic resource for the promotion of health and quality of life.
