Explorando las variaciones de género en el bienestar, el agotamiento, la calidad del sueño y la incomodidad positiva en jugadores semi-profesionales de baloncesto

Introducción: Los jugadores semi-profesionales de baloncesto afrontan elevadas demandas físicas y psicológicas mientras compatibilizan la práctica deportiva con responsabilidades académicas, laborales y personales.
Objetivo: El presente estudio analizó las diferencias de género en bienestar, burnout, variables relacionadas con el sueño y el Positive Symptom Distress Index (PSDI) en jugadores semi-profesionales de baloncesto, así como las relaciones entre estas variables.
Metodología: Participaron 96 jugadores semi-profesionales de baloncesto (60 mujeres y 36 hombres), quienes completaron cuestionarios validados para evaluar el bienestar, el burnout, la privación del sueño y el malestar psicológico.
Resultados: Las diferencias de género únicamente fueron significativas en el PSDI, mostrando los hombres mayores niveles de malestar psicológico que las mujeres. No se encontraron diferencias significativas en bienestar, burnout ni privación del sueño. Los análisis de correlación y regresión revelaron patrones específicos según el sexo: en las mujeres, el bienestar se asoció negativamente con el burnout y el PSDI, mientras que el burnout y la privación del sueño se asociaron positivamente con el PSDI. En los hombres, el PSDI estuvo principalmente asociado con la privación del sueño.
Discusión: Estos resultados ponen de manifiesto la necesidad de adoptar un enfoque multidimensional y sensible al género para el seguimiento del bienestar psicológico y de los factores relacionados con la recuperación en jugadores semi-profesionales de baloncesto.
Conclusiones: Los profesionales deberían implementar estrategias integradas dirigidas a optimizar la recuperación, reducir el malestar psicológico y prevenir respuestas desadaptativas, especialmente en deportistas que compaginan la competición con responsabilidades académicas, laborales y personales.
