Psychometric validation of the SECO-3D: an instrument for the comprehensive evaluation of academic conferences in physical activity and sport sciences

Introduction and Objective. Scientific conferences are essential for the dissemination of knowledge, the creation of professional networks, and educational innovation. In the field of physical activity and sports sciences, these events facilitate the exchange of experiences and the formation of scientific communities. However, their evaluation remains fragmented and based on non-validated instruments. This issue is particularly relevant in the field of sports sciences, where the lack of psychometrically solid tools restricts rigorous analysis of their impact. This study aims to validate the SECO-3D instrument, designed to assess the perception of learning, service quality, and organization in academic conferences.
Methodology. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional design was employed. The sample included 260 participants from the XXXII International FOD Congress "Applied Sciences to Physical Activity and Sports." The SECO-3D questionnaire, composed of 20 Likert-type items, was used, and the Delphi method was applied to ensure content validity through expert judgment.
Results. The results showed high acceptance indices (IAI between 0.875 and 0.98) and strong internal consistency (α = .979). The item means ranged from 5.21 to 5.69 on a scale of 1 to 7, reflecting a positive perception from the participants. A dominant eigenvalue of 14.308 suggests a robust unidimensional model. Item-item and subscale correlations confirmed the structural coherence of the questionnaire.
Conclusions. The SECO-3D proved to be a robust tool for the comprehensive evaluation of academic conferences in sports sciences.
