Protocolo e estudo de viabilidade de um programa de pausas ativas na sala de aula universitária

Resumo

Introdução: As pausas ativas, que envolvem breves pausas para exercício em sala de aula, são uma ferramenta eficaz para reduzir o comportamento sedentário entre os jovens. Além disso, podem aumentar o interesse, a motivação e o desempenho cognitivo dos alunos. No entanto, poucos estudos avaliaram a viabilidade e aceitação de programas de pausa ativa especificamente direcionados para estudantes universitários.
Objectivo: Avaliar a aceitação, adequação e exequibilidade de um programa de descanso activo entre estudantes universitários.
Metodologia: Desenho quase-experimental contrabalançado com dois braços de intervenção. Participaram no estudo 96 estudantes universitários (26,4% mulheres). A intervenção consistiu num intervalo ativo de 5 minutos realizado a meio da aula, durante um período de 10 semanas consecutivas. As sessões foram atribuídas aleatoriamente para incluir ou excluir um intervalo ativo.
Resultados: Foram preenchidos 753 registos, dos quais 434 (57,6%) incluíam pausa ativa e 319 (42,4%) não. Segundo os estudantes, as pausas ativas foram consideradas interessantes (X̅ 3,94, Desvio Padrão 1,17, numa escala de 5 pontos); serviu para os reactivar (3,96; 1,21); melhor atenção e concentração (3,80; 1,16); o ambiente da sala de aula (3,92; 1,08) e o processo de aprendizagem (3,76; 1,29); e manifestaram interesse em repeti-las (3,92;1,23).
Conclusões: Os estudantes consideraram as pausas ativas viáveis ​​para implementação nas salas de aula da universidade. Além disso, destacaram melhorias na sua concentração, atenção e na atmosfera geral da sala de aula. Estas descobertas são particularmente relevantes para educadores, investigadores e decisores políticos que pretendem reduzir eficazmente o sedentarismo e melhorar o desempenho académico num ambiente universitário.
